Huge congratulations to Orlo C who was awarded the Farquhar Cup at the Children’s Meet last week.
This cup is awarded every year to the most helpful Pony Club member in the hunting community. Orlo has shown great commitment to working regularly in kennels over the past couple of years as well as helping on the hunting field.
We also acknowledged Nicky Bush’s commitment to our PC as our Hunting Representative for a number of years. Huge thank you Nicky!

Badminton Horse Trials 2023
Beaufort Hunt Pony Club Members who would like to be considered as a Slip Collector on XC day at Badminton Horse Trials 2023 (Sunday 7th May) should email Fi Norbury brief details of themselves and their pony. Slip Collectors must be Members of the BHPC, be in Year 9 or above, have passed their C Test and previously slip collected at Gatcombe Horse Trials. We appreciate that Gatcombe did not take place for a couple of years, so if you have not been able to Slip Collect there, the suitability of your pony will be considered instead, so please list any rallies or competitions you have attended in your email application.
Please email applications to Fi Norbury on by Sunday 29th January.

Parent help

Please get in touch with Alex Connors if you fancy a go at online/live scoring for the Beaufort Pony Club. We already have a small but perfect team of scorers, however we need to recruit a couple more for various 2023 events.
To begin with, we need a couple of scorers on Sunday 5th February at Malmesbury for the Beaufort Triathlon. Would ideally suit someone whose child is not competing.
No Tet experience necessary. No horse experience necessary.
Moderately good computer skills, competent mental arithmetic and accuracy are important. Your own laptop is an advantage.

Alex looks forward to hearing from you; please email her on

Membership Renewals

It’s that time of year again.
PC membership for a lot of people will expire on 31.1.2023.
Those who joined mid-year on a rolling membership can breathe a sigh of relief. You are covered!
If your membership is due for renewal, The Pony Club email system should send you a reminder. This may well end up in your junk mail folder, so it’s worth checking on the dashboard whether your membership renewal is due in January.

B+ Test

Two sessions, via Zoom, have been organised with Carole Broad to explain to candidates what the B+ exam is all about. This is open to anyone who has passed their B test riding who is thinking of taking the B+ or would like to know more about it.

10th Jan 2023 – B+ training Getting to know the jumping work needed for the test

An evening with Geoff Billington – Autumn Tour
Unicorn Trust – Stow on the Wold GL54 1JZ
Thursday 17th November – 7pm
A slightly different set of demos this autumn. Geoff spends much of his time now training riders all over the country from grassroots to riders jumping at European level.
We thought this would be a good demo subject, it will be relatable to all. Geoff will be training 2 local horses at varying stages of training showing how to apply his training techniques to help riders and their horses get the best results. Geoff will also be bringing “Just Special” his stallion to show a horse jumping at a higher level.
Using a mix of pole work, grids and a course, often you only have to make small changes to get a big result.
Of course, Geoff will still have stories to share of his time riding at the very top of the sport with other jumping legends.
An evening with Geoff without story telling wouldn’t be the same. He will have you all laughing in no time, a good tonic in these difficult times.
Adult- £30
Under 15yrs – £20
Group tickets available (5 for the price of 4)
All demos start at 7pm – the cafe at the venue will be open prior to the demo starting to get food and drink. Geoff will work through until 9.30ish with no break.

We are delighted to be able to open The Blue Ball up to non-PC members now!
All the fun is happening at Chavenage House, Tetbury from 7:30-9:30pm on Sunday 18th December. For school years 6-10
This year, we will once again be hosting the festivities at the wonderful Chavenage House, where we are planning on treating our partygoers to a fun-filled, action-packed evening of entertainment.
Not only do we have a brilliant DJ on the decks, but there’s also a silent disco for the kids to cut some shapes to!
Not to miss out on an opportunity to improve their riding skills, our jockeys can show off their stickability when they step up to tackle Rodney our Rodeo Reindeer.
After they’ve danced up a storm (and been bucked off a few times), our riders can indulge themselves at our Mocktail Bar of dreams, and fully-loaded grazing table complete with chocolate fountain. With even more festive fun being planned, we can guarantee that our Blue Ball guests will have an absolutely fabulous time.
The Blue Ball Committee are keen for parents to get involved by joining us at Tipputs Inn after drop-off for a sociable Christmas vino and tapas treats.
Please contact if you have any queries.
