Dressage Sport Manager – Rachel Barber

Pony Club Dressage …

It isn’t all about plaited ponies, White boards, pots of flowers and judges in cars.

It’s about basic flatwork – developing your understanding of your pony’s correct way of going and learning to use the right aids to develop a happy and confident partnership.  In addition to this, it is about creating rhythm, suppleness and connection – essential for all aspects of riding.  After all, dressage is the foundation for jumping.

PC Competitions …

At Area level, there are teams/individuals at Novice, Intermediate and Open and a individual class at Open Novice (for those whose horses have won too much to do novice team class).  These Area competitions are the qualifying rounds for the Pony Club National Championship.

At Grassroot level, there is a competition that qualifies teams/individuals competing at a more beginner standard for the Regional Championships.  This is generally used as a stepping stone for those looking to compete at the Pony Club National Championships in the future.

Training …

We feel dressage training is most beneficial in an individual setting or as a compatible pair, working at the same level,  Sessions are usually 45 minutes (please allow time to warm up in the outdoor school so your ready for your session).

We also offer regular group flatwork rallies for our junior members.

You can find all our training dates listed on our Calendar page.
