Eventing gives Pony Club members and their ponies the opportunity to train to develop an all-round partnership, improving their skills for dressage, show jumping and cross country riding. It is a fantastic day out and the best bit is, if one phase isn’t your best another can turn the tables for you.

Competitions

Pony Club Eventing competitions are generally run at:

Minis (70-75cms), Grassroots (80-85cms), Novice (09-95cms), Intermediate (100-105cms) and Open (110-115cms).

Each summer Area 9 runs qualify Eventing competitions for Regional and National Championships.

  • Members qualify for a grassroots competition where qualifying teams and individuals get to compete in the Regional Pony Club Championships in the late summer.
  • Then there are the Area Novice, Intermediate and Open competitions where qualifying teams and competitors get to compete in the National Championships in summer.

There are also arena eventing competitions to qualify for the Barrier Spring Festival, qualification takes place in the autumn with the festival held early the next year.

As a branch we often enter multiple members for grassroots branch competitions, where our younger or less experienced members can compete from 40cm up to 70cm.

Training

Keep an eye on our Calendar for up and coming Eventing training as well as Dressage and Show Jumping training dates that will help you in all phases.

We run a very popular ‘Training to Event’ programme of rallies, held at different locations including Leyland Court, Oxstalls, Pontispool, Boomerang and other locations.

Arena Eventing rallies and rallies in a Derby arena are also popular additions to our training calendar, suitable for all. Cross country is also always a popular element of training on our camps, subject to weather and ground conditions.
