Pony Club Tests explained

Pony Club Tests are designed to be progressive, with certain objectives in mind – see flow chat for the ages and order in which to take the tests.

There are also Progressive Awards to work towards in between the Tests.  These Progressive Awards are bitesize stepping stones to encourage continual learning and skill development.  They can be completed in preparation for Pony Club Tests.

  • Bronze 3,2 and 1 in between E and D tests
  • Silver 3, 2 and 1 in between D and D+ tests
  • Gold 3, 2 and 1 in between D+ and C tests

Pony Club Tests at Berkeley South

We will guide you through the system, no pressure, just practical, useful knowledge to give you the horsemanship skills you need to care for and ride you horse the best you can, whilst making new friends and having fun.

We run blocks of training to support you to learn the skills and knowledge that is required for the level of Test you will be undertaking, before supporting you to undertake your Test with friendly and positive examining instructors. Tests E and D, along with our Progressive Awards, may be examined at camp for those who are ready. Tests D+ and above will be examined separately and in small groups. Reasonable Adjustments will be implemented for our members who have additional needs, speak to Fran in confidence to discuss this.

Tests to C+ will be run by the Branch. Tests from B and above are run by Area 9. DC nomination is required for B Test and above to ensure that members entering are at the required standard.

Berkeley South are very proud as a branch to have members who have achieved their B+ tests and others who are now about to sit their AH Test, the highest test of Horsemanship available in Pony Club. However, we take pride in celebrating every Test or Award with our members, and watching each young person grow and develop over their time in Pony Club!
