Good Friday -2017  Area 9 Cheltenham Race Day

Oh my goodness what a day we had on Good Friday at Cheltenham, firstly thank you to Cheltenham Racecourse and all the Area 9 pony racing committee and all the helpers on the day that made such memories for lots of pony club children. Also thank you to the support crew for our pony racers that came up the M5 to support them, it was great to see you there. We had 8 members racing, two with two rides, very lucky children. Joe Dyer and Charlotte Sheppard set us off with Joe coming 4th, Mkenzy Rice and Dan Williams then took on the hill with Dan on Gem coming 5th. Harvey Barfoot Saunt and Winnie then came 5th in their race. Oliver Howell and Jack Osborne had a very tough open race against some very pure racing ponies, Jack did well and came 5th and Ollie wasn’t far behind. Amy Williams had a good race and came 6th. Dan on Storm and Harvey Barfoot Saunt on Buggy Girl were our last racers of the day, Dan came in 6th and Harvey only went and won the race!! To have so many of us cheering him in was great and cheering him into the winner’s enclosure was like a true Cheltenham cheer. (Harvey’s dad Geoff (jockey) and mum Tracey (trainer) were very proud and Harvey has now done something neither of them have). Well done to you all, it has been great helping you get here and we are doing better and better every year. And the jockeys are already talking about next year and what they are riding.

Sunday 30th May.  Huge congratulations to Jack Greenhaigh who won a pony race today.
Sunday 6th March 2016
Ten of our members today had the most fabulous experience. They were invited to go to Beaufort Point to Point course and experience how real a race is. Many thanks must go to John and Jamie Tuck, land owners and the clerk of the course who allowed this fabulous opportunity to take place. Also huge thanks to Geoff Barfoot Saunt and Sophie Hammond who acted as out riders and took the members to the start. Huge thanks must go to Tracey Barfoot Saunt who with Geoff gave the members a course walk and Tracey who looked after all of them at the start after training them up to this experience. Thank you to David Dando as well who went to make sure all were well and to make sure all were safe and in control. The experience that these members had is most incredible and the children and parents involved can not thank all of you enough. From all at BHSPC thank you. Good luck to all of you that are going to pony race this coming season.
I would like to thank Tracey Barfoot Saunt and Nicky Browne for all their help this year in making this so accessible to all of our members.
