WINTER 2022/23

We are holding unmounted rallies for all members to learn stable management and horse care skills.

Instructors will teach things needed for the Pony Club Efficiency Tests, which members will have the opportunity to take in Spring/Summer 2023.

We will be working on various badges, which build towards the Efficiency tests and also guide children to know more about their ponies and their health.

All ages and abilities welcome, from those with no Efficiency Tests to those members working towards their B tests.

You can come to all or some of the rallies, they cost £8 and booking is via Online Booking

Dates and Location:

5th November 11am – Ash Manor, Ash, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN15 7HD

14th January 2023 – 10am – Smiths Farm, Forge Lane, Shorne, DA12 3DP

And finally for those that really love stable management and pony care, would you like to be on a team to compete in the Pony Club Blue Cross Horse and Pony Care competition?

The competition is made up of teams of three members who have to demonstrate their knowledge and practical horsemanship skills taken from the Pony Club Efficiency Tests over a number of rounds.  Details on link below.

There are currently over 130 Pony Club Badges available for members to achieve.  The Badges are split into four categories;

  1. Mini Achievement Badges
  2. Achievement Badges
  3. Advanced Achievement Badges
  4. Sport Achievement Badges

Within each category the badges are classified as Fun & Friendship, Horsemanship or Sport.   You can find a full list with information on the syllabus for each badge on the main Pony Club website under training, Pony Club Badges

We do badge rallies throughout the year and we work on badges at the summer camps.

So far in 2022, at the January stable management rally members worked on their Yard Safety Badge and at the February rally the Feeding badge was achieved.  In addition some younger members were awarded their Mini Horse Clothing Badge and some juniors achieved their Poisonous Plants Badge.  More badge rallies will be announced during the year but if there are any particular badges your child would like to do, please get in touch with Jane Laird,  janelaird73@gmail.com.

Mini Achievement Badges

These badges are for the younger members of the Pony Club, as a guide for those aged 8 and below.  As you will see from the list there are lots of fun badges for the younger members to work towards.  Some badges are suggested as good learning preparation for the Efficiency D and D+ tests.

Achievement Badges

The Achievement badges are for Pony Club members aged 8 and above and are aligned with the learning required for the C Test and above.  Currently there are 61 Achievement Badges and you will see from the list below those that support the Pony Club tests.

There is a special Blue Cross Equine Welfare Badge for those members who achieve the following 10 Achievement badges; Bandages and Rugs, Equine First Aid, Care of the Foot, Feeding, Perfect Paddock, Grooming, Lorinery, Saddlery, Shoeing and Mucking Out.  Please contact Jane Laird if you have the badges listed or are close to achieving them.

There is also a Gold Achievement badge for those members who have been awarded 21 Achievement badges.

For information on the Advanced Achievement Badges and Sport Achievement Badges please refer to the main pony club website, Advanced achievement badges and Sports Badges
