Wellington PC110 Championships
West Kent Sevenoaks PC was firmly put on the map by our brilliant team of Darcy, Abi, Katie and Marcus with a write-up in Horse & Hound, thanks to their stunning results. The team came 1st as a branch, 4th in the Area teams and Darcy took 3rd individually. Marcus won the award for the highest climber post-dressage and then Darcy also took the cup for being the rider to place the highest at both the PC110 Championships and the BE Youth Championships at Bishop Burton (formerly awarded to Laura Collett!). Incredible results, and so well-deserved.
PC Championships
Some great performances by Zoe, Lara and Esme at PC Championships, where the challenging XC course really tested all competitors. Lara took it all in her stride, posting a clear inside the time to secure 8th place individually. Esme was caught out by an early question on the course but rallied strongly to finish inside the time, albeit the jumping faults sadly dropped her out of the top ten this time.
In the Chairman’s Cup, Zoe hit the jackpot with a super double clear to finish on her dressage score and a 6th place individually.
Well done girls – great results!
Area Eventing
A small but talented group of WKS individual riders went to Tweseldown for the Area qualifiers. On the first day Esme and Lara were competing in the PC90 as individuals and both girls claimed 2nd place in their sections, qualifying them for PC Championships. Well done!
On the Sunday Zoe entered the new Chairman’s Cup competition and took the title with a superb performance. Another one off to Champs! Then Poppy and Clemmy took their turn, in the PC80 and again they both qualified for Regional Championships!
An unbelieveable weekend with a 100% qualifying rate, a testament to the talent and hard work of our eventers, and the excellent training and support provided by eventing manager Sarah and our trainers.
Huge congratulations and best of luck to all at Champs.

PC Championships 2022
Zoe qualified on Dusty in the PC90 and headed to Offchurch Bury knowing from last year that the competition would be fierce and the courses challenging. They started the competition with an outstanding dressage test and a score of 15.2 putting them firmly at the top of their section. One pole in the SJ left them in the overnight lead going into the final phase. Watching many riders coming unstuck at the water complex, and being held in the start box, didn’t put them off their gameplan though and they stormed round clear inside the time to take the win. Fantastic result, Zoe!
Regional Championships 2022
Our team of Iona, Mabel, Esme and Felicity qualified with confidence at Tweseldown at the Area competition earlier in the summer and were excited to be heading to Horseheath for Regional Champs. Having competed there last year, Iona was the only rider with previous experience at this level and walking the cross country course they knew that it would prove to be the deciding factor (and so it was, with a significant proportion of the competitors eliminated during the final phase). Our four girls rode beautiful dressage tests putting them all in the top 4 in their sections. Iona jumped clear in the SJ and the others each picked up a few faults with either a stop or a pole, and then they rode their hearts out round the technical XC. Felicity was determined and strategic, taking a couple of alternatives to ensure she and Prince completed, albeit with some faults. Unfortunately Esme’s barefoot pony didn’t like the very stony water complex and she struggled to get him moving forward after that and they were sadly eliminated, while Mabel had a fall at a very spooky fence at the top of the hill. Luckily she and pony were fine, if frustrated after making such a good job of the first half of the course. Meanwhile, Iona and Freddie flew around clear in fine style to take the WIN and be crowned Regional Champions!

The experience was summed up well by DC Emma: “Very well done to all our Grassroots Regional Championship competitors. You were all fantastic! Although it didn’t always quite go to plan, after the tears you could all see the positives of the day and this is what will make you all winners in the future. I’m super proud of you all and the way you handled yourselves. Iona, congratulations on a foot-perfect performance and a super, well-deserved win.”

Congratulations Archie and Po!
Not a PC event, but we just had to let you know that Archie was crowned the BE100 Under 18 International Youth Champion at Bishop Burton. Finishing on their dressage score of 27.8 in this super-competitive culmination of their first season together at BE100 was an incredible achievement and we’re all so proud and pleased for this talented pair. Congratulations Archie!
Darcy joined Archie in the winning SE team at the competition and Lara took part in the BE90 Under 18 and also put in a super performance. Well done all.

Area eventing, Tweseldown
With several of our senior riders focusing on the BE Youth Championships, we had fewer members competing at the upper levels at Area this year. Congratulations to Katie who took 2nd in the PC100, only just missing out on qualification. Meanwhile in the PC90 Zoe also took 2nd place and, luckily for her, the qualification passed down the line, giving her a place at PC Champs. Congratulations both of you on couple of great performances.
On day two we had our Grassroots PC80 team of Esme, Iona, Felicity and Mabel in action, all posting top notch performances and clear XC rounds, securing them 1st place and qualification for Regional Championships – fantastic result girls! They were each in the top three in their section too, with Iona winning hers.
In the PC100+ Marcus did a great job too, placing 2nd and also qualifying for PC Champs.

Lodge Farm ODE
What a wonderful day we had at Lodge Farm at the Eridge PC one day event, and the perfect warm-up for Area eventing. Many thanks to them for putting on such a lovely competition, and for the very generous prizes.
In the 80cm class it was a clean sweep for WKSPC:
Section C
Iona 1st
Mabel 2nd
Felicity 3rd
Emilia 9th
And in the 70cm Amber came 2nd.
Well done to Mabel too for piloting Peggy with style at one of their first ODEs. A green horse who’s getting better and better each time.
Congratulations to you all!

August, Regional Grassroots Championships
Iona posted one of few double clears in the eventing to finish only just outside the placings in 11th place

. The tough XC track caused problems for many, making Iona’s achievement all the more impressive. Congratulations!
August, PC Champs
Archie and Landine completed the equivalent of a 2* at the PC110 eventing championships, helping the Area 11 team to 8th place. Their biggest challenge to date and such an achievement. Well done Archie and the rest of the team.
In the intermediate team, Darcy led her dressage on 22.7

and picked up just 4 faults in the SJ. She was gutted to collect 20 penalties at the water. Abi had another brilliant day, with a 21.9 dressage, 4 in the SJ and a stonking clear XC to finish a fantastic 4th in her section

. Zara and an exuberant Zachie completed only their third ever 100 in style, with a couple down SJ after a solid dressage performance. A few braking issues meant a runout at a skinny XC but they – along with the rest of the team – have much to be proud of

. Poor Harry took the sensible decision to retire before the final phase as Fabio was not feeling his normal self. We send them best wishes for a speedy return to form.
And a final word on the Novice eventing where Zoe represented us earlier in the week: “A lovely dressage, a pole SJ and a brave XC round over their most challenging course to date.” Well done Zoe and Jack – hope you’ve recovered from your super busy week!
June, Area Horse Trials, Brightling
An eventful weekend of eventing at Area 11 horse trials

.
Very well done to all WKS members who – as ever – showed great resilience and team spirit. The testing tracks really put you through your paces but you came out smiling!
In the PC90 our Red team of Lara, Zoe, Darcy and Katie came 3rd

, with Zoe placing 2nd individually, Katie 5th and Darcy 6th. In the Blue team Marcus came 5th individually

although team mates Zara C and Ellie were out of the ribbons this time.
In the PC80 Iona posted a super double clear to finish in 2nd place

. Well done to her and team mates Poppy, Esme and Mabel who all jumped clear SJ too.

June, Petersfield PC ODE
Stella and Esme had a lovely day at Coombelands at the Petersfield PC one day event. The ground was perfect, courses inviting and everything was superbly organised. Thank you for having us and well done girls!
June, EPC ODE
Lovely to see so many WKSPC members out eventing at Lodge Farm today! A big thank you to Eridge PC for hosting us. Well done to all our riders and their ponies: you looked so smart, supported each other brilliantly and rode with real determination and skill. The icing on the cake was some excellent placings too:
Abi 1st in PC90
Zoe 1st in PC80
Felicity 2nd in PC80
Abi 2nd in PC70
May, MSPC ODE
Abi Scott took her youngster Chance to their first ever event and he did a super test for 19.2, tapped one pole SJ and did an awesome clear XC to win their section. Well done!
April, MSPC hunter trials
The Rogers sisters, Clemmy and Emilia, had a great day! Both girls did beautiful clear rounds in the 60 & 70. In the 60cm Emilia came 2nd and Clemmy 5th, and in the 70cm Emilia came joint 2nd and qualified for the Eland Lodge National HT championships in September. Huge smiles all round!
Very well done to them both and thank you to MSPC for hosting. It’s great to be back!

Mid Surrey PC hunter trials, 28th September
Well done to Felicity, Stella and Liv who represented the branch at at MSPC’s first hunter trials of the season.
It was Felicity and Prince’s first competition together and they stormed round with big smiles on their faces to finish 11th. Meanwhile ‘Team Rosner’ came 5th in the 80cm pairs and “loved it!”.
Romney Marsh PC arena eventing, 26th September
Emilia, Poppy, Lara and Esme had a lovely day at Petley Wood, hosted by Romney Marsh PC.
Emilia came 2nd in class 1 while Poppy took 3rd place in class 2. Then Lara came 8th in class 3 on her lovely new pony, and in class 4 they placed 2nd. Poppy and Lara are both through to the Area 11 Spring Championship qualifier in March! Well done all of you.
Mid Surrey PC, 5th & 6th September
Great to see lots of our members out eventing at Mid Surrey PC on 5th and 6th September, at the only PC horse trials of the COVID season! A huge thank you to our hosts.
Saturday saw Clemmy riding a super dressage test to lead her section in the 55cm class but an unfortunate sat nav error resulted in elimination in the SJ. Most importantly she finished the cross country with a smile on her face though! Well done Clemmy.
In the next class her sister Emilia unbelievably missed out a fence in the SJ too, having jumped a lovely round! A text book clear XC ended their day on a high.
In the 70cm Mabel and Esme both did lovely dressage tests, followed by a brilliant double clear and 1st place for Mabel. Esme dropped from 1st in her section to 3rd after knocking a couple of poles in the SJ but storming round the XC in style.
On Sunday we had six members in the 80cm who all put in impressive performances. Amelie took 1st in her section, with Darcy 3rd and Poppy 6th . Mabel’s pony unluckily took a dislike to the ditch, marring an otherwise super outing for this new pairing. In the other section Zoe came 1st and Stella 5th .
In the teams, Darcy, Zoe and Poppy came 2nd and Mabel, Stella and Amelie took 3rd.
