Volunteering is a great way for older members to become more involved in the branch, support younger riders and gain valuable experience. It also provides opportunities to work towards both the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Bronze Volunteering Section and the Pony Club Young Equestrian Leaders Award (YELA) Bronze Award.

Our volunteer programme is open to members aged 13 and over and aims to provide structured opportunities to develop confidence, responsibility and practical leadership skills while supporting branch activities.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are lots of ways to get involved, including:Helping at rallies (flatwork, jumping and lead rein)Supporting younger Pony Club membersAssisting with campsHelping at competitions and eventsSetting up and putting away equipmentSupporting quizzes, socials and other branch activities

Volunteering hours may also be completed through other approved British Equestrian Member Bodies and establishments, as listed on the YELA website: https://pcuk.org/yela/

Award Requirements

Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award – Volunteering Section

– Minimum of 13 hours volunteering

– Completed over at least 3 months

Pony Club Young Equestrian Leaders Award (YELA) Bronze

– Minimum of 20 hours volunteering

– Completed over a minimum of 8 weeks

– Must be completed with an approved Member Body establishment

Please note: Many of the volunteering activities available through Albrighton Hunt Pony Club can count towards both awards, provided the individual requirements of each award are met.
