Show Jumping

What is Showjumping?

Show Jumping is where a horse and rider combination are tested over a course of colourful obstacles, known as fences, which can be easily knocked down if they are hit. The goal is to complete the course in the fastest time without getting any faults. Faults are gained when a fence is knocked down, the horse stops at a fence (refuse) or the horse runs around a fence (run out).

Show Jumping can take place both indoors and outdoors, so is perfect to enjoy all year round.

Intended to demonstrate the horse and rider’s courage, athletic ability, precision, speed and partnership, your aim is to jump a clear round.

Criteria for Team Selection

For inter branch competitions selection is made by the team manager from those interested, available and capable of competing at the relevant height.

For Area Team selection, the following criteria apply:-

  • Members must be active in the branch and attend at least 3 rallies. Attendance at camp is also desirable.
  • Teams will be chosen by the Team Manager in consultation with the D.C.
  • Training will be given prior to Area competitions
  • Members representing the branch must be competent and able to ride safely at the standard requested.

It is a privilege to be chosen to represent your branch and members should show commitment and respect to the instructors, team managers and other team members. As a team competition it is important that members and parents are supportive to all in the teams through good and bad days.

If you are interested in training or being selected for a team then register your interest by emailing Emma (atherstone@pcuk.org). For details of the regular training sessions please keep an eye on our Facebook Page.

Please Note

You will only be entered into a competition if payment is received in advance of the competition date.
