Eventing gives Pony Club Members a competition which needs courage, determination and all-round riding ability combined with the careful and systematic training of the horse. Riders gain a deeper understanding of the different sports open to them.

Its main aim is to encourage a higher standard of riding throughout The Pony Club and to give younger Members a greater interest in riding as both a sport and as a recreational activity.

Eventing is split into three phases: Dressage, Show Jumping & Cross Country.

If you are interested in competing on a team then you can aim for the Area Competition which is for Novice, Intermediate and Open level and leads to qualification to the Nationals for winning teams and individuals.  There is also a section for Grassroots riders with the top 4 teams gaining qualification to the Regional Finals at Rectory Farm – this is a good stepping stone for those looking to compete at the National Championships in the future.

Dates for your diary if you are interested in teams are as follows:

  • Area/Grassroots Qualifying Competition 80/90/100/100+cm – 17th July 2021 Upton House
  • Open Area Qualifying Competition 110cm (also via BE MER) – 18th July 20221 Howick
  • Open National Championships 110cm at Gatcombe Horse Trails – 5th & 6th August 2021
  • National Pony Club Championships – 16-22nd August 2021 (Offchurch Bury, Warwickshire)
  • Grassroots Regional Pony Club Championships – 28th-30th August 2021 (Rectory Farm, Cirencester)
