Safeguarding is taken very seriously at Berkeley South Pony Club. The safeguarding of all of our members is of paramount importance so that every young person can enjoy their Pony Club journey in a safe and positive environment.
Our Safeguarding Officer is our Branch DC, Fran. Any concerns can be passed to Fran on dc.berkeleysouth@pcuk.org, or via her number shared with members, and will be treated with sensitivity and according to the Pony Club Safeguarding Policy.
If Fran cannot be reached, or you would feel more comfortable discussing this with another committee member, then our Assistant Safeguarding Officer is Hannah. Hannah can be reached at h.aprewett@gmail.com.
Mental health is an important part of member and volunteer welfare at Berkeley South. Harassment or bullying in any form will not be tolerated and we take proactive steps to ensure Branch activities are a safe space for all.
Riders Minds is an online bespoke resource dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of all. They are open to everyone, of all ages, levels and experience. They offer a wealth of practical information and a 24/7 helpline.

Riders Minds – Improving the mental health & wellbeing of equestrians

Berkeley South runs their rallies, events, and branch activities according to the Health & Safety policies of Pony Club. All of our instructors are trained and qualified according to Pony Club requirements, first aid cover is provided at all rallies and events by trained first aiders, and full risk assessments are undertaken of branch activities.
Should you have any concerns in respect of Health and Safety please contact Fran at dc.berkeleysouth@pcuk.org
Berkeley South takes inclusivity very seriously. We have a number of members with identified additional needs and we will always work with members and their parents/carers to ensure that we can make reasonable adjustments and ensure that every BSPC member is able to access the learning and enjoyment that comes from membership.
Reasonable Adjustment forms can be downloaded from the Pony Club website, completed by members or their parents/carers, and sent to Fran via email. These will be treated confidentially, with information only shared in order to promote reasonable adjustments being made. We would encourage all parents/carers and/or members to submit these forms, or have a discussion with Fran in the first instance, to ensure that all needs are well understood for day to day pony club activities. Should a member be engaged in a competition or activity out of branch then these forms can be shared appropriately to ensure that the correct adjustments are made. If an RA form is not already on record then these must be submitted at least four weeks ahead of any competition or outside branch event to ensure the adjustments can be properly considered.
