Area Horse & Pony Care Success

The Area 9 Horse and Pony Care competition was held at Andoversford on Friday 10 April and the Old Berks fielded a mini team (Rozzie O’M, Connie Q and Ada M-H) and two junior teams (Lacie W, Niamh M, Rosie T, Esme EC, Poppy W and Eliza W).  We are hugely proud of them for great teamwork, their support for each other and all the time and hard work they (and their parents) put in.

Congratulations to all three teams who have qualified for the Pony Club Championships on 21 and 22 August.  They demonstrated their knowledge over rounds including care of the pony at grass, foot and shoeing, poisonous plants and worming, saddlery, bitting, health, welfare and training.  Our mini team came second in a hugely competitive field of 22 teams; our junior teams took first and second place, separated by a very small margin.

Many thanks to the Cotswold branch of the Pony Club for organising, the Kennels at Andoversford for hosting the competition and Alicia L and Fiona J for their enormous input in  training our teams.
