Would you like to have a go at Pony Racing? Or experience the thrill of riding on gallops?
We run regular pony racing rallies where you can take your horse or pony on the gallops. These sessions are suitable for those wanting to get an eventer fit as well as anyone interested in pony racing. They can be used to qualify to take part in a Pony Club Race Day.

The Pony Club run up to 10 Pony Club Pony Race Days across the country for members to take part in with races for ponies that are 128cms and below, 138cms and below and 148cms and below. There are different race categories for different levels of experience. Details of each race day can be seen on the main Pony Club website. Please pay attention to the schedule for each day as they can differ. Children can race from 9 to 16 but must be at least 9 years of age from 1st January of the year they wish to race. Ponies must be aged between 4 and 20 years.
To qualify to race in a Pony Club Pony Race in 2024, members should take part in a minimum of 2 PC Rallies in an open space or attend and pass a PRA/PC Pony Racing Training Day since 1st July 2023.
Pony Racing at the local Lockinge Point-to-Point
At the Lockinge point-to-point on Easter Monday, 1 April 2024 there will be three pony races, all of which are 7f:-
148 cms (14.2) and under Novice Riders “Conditions” Race
138 cms (13.2) and under Open Race
148 cms (14.2) and under Open Race
Please note that these races are run by the Pony Racing Authority so children taking part must first join the Pony Racing Authority and register their pony. The requirements of the Pony Racing Authority (PRA) are slightly different to the Pony Club. Children can race from their 9th birthday but must have attended at least 4 PC Rallies (1 to have included jumping) OR 4 days hunting OR a PRA/PC Pony Racing Training Day since 1st July 2023.
Ponies must be aged between 4 and 20 years old.
There will be award to the top finishing OBHPC members.
Pony Club Race days
Pony Club Race days, have races tailored for all ages and abilities and all types of ponies from 128 cm – 148cm. They also give children the opportunity to ride at some of the Premier UK Racecourses, such as Cheltenham and Ascot.
Children need to be:-
9 years old on 1st January to ride at Pony Club Racedays
9 years old to ride in Point to Point Pony Races
11 years old on 1st January to ride in the Racecourse Series, which is for the more experienced riders.
